One Sheet of Plywood is a class that Matt Wolpe teaches in the woodshop at the Crucible in Oakland.
The class is designed for woodworkers who want to begin expanding their design skills, and for designers who want to learn woodworking skills. Students in this class are challenged to design and build anything they can imagine out of a 4x8 sheet of high quality laminated birch plywood. Students go through a rigorous design process as they explore the versatility and unmatched structural integrity of plywood and learn skills to produce a one of a kind piece of furniture, sculpture or invention.
Below are some examples of student work.
