Heavy Sleeper

When Just Fine collaborator Pete Trachy approached us with a design for a wood & metal bed frame we couldn't resist. When we found the old school house timbers languishing in a Berkeley yard, we hoped Pete would be as stoked as we were. And so far, so good. Look at Matt and Pete sending those beautiful boards through the planer!
Making the steel base was fun. For the curves we built a jig and clamped the flat stock to it. Matt heated up the metal with the torch and Kevin bent it to shape.
The bed is now installed in Potrero Hill with one happy customer. Pete reports back that he "definitely experienced improved sleeping satisfaction" on his Just Fine bed frame.
If you have any ideas on how we can use more of these boards (anybody need a coffee table?) please contact one of us!
Materials: re-purposed douglas fir school house beams, scrap steel (2 inch flat stock & angle iron).
